Lagoon House

This house is in Benguela Cove Estate, on the western ridge. The concept of the house was to keep a connection with the lagoon and mountain views to the west from the point of arrival to the west terrace and all rooms.

The floor plan steps in 5 different levels, hugging the natural contours of the site thus maintaining direct contact with the beautiful surrounding landscape and views. The plan allows layering of rectangular shapes and a sheltered courtyard from the prevailing winds. This play in plan translates in a sculptural 3 dimensional expression. Large areas of glass were used with timber pergolas and shading screens, to reinforce the circulation routes, connection to the views and creates a play of light and shadows.

Colours, materials and textures were selected to blend in with the natural surroundings.
