Originally from the Boland region of the Western Cape. He studied at the University of Cape Town. Worked in Cape Town specifically on high-end residential projects, Ireland on Urban Design, Master Planning, commercial and residential projects.

He has been principal of Neel Saayman Architects in Hermanus, since 2005.

Enjoys traveling, studying buildings, flying, surfing, mountain biking, poetry, good food and good wine.
