The client required an open plan living, dining and kitchen area living out onto a pool terrace and courtyard.

The connection and proximity to the ocean, whilst not being directly adjacent to the sea, was maintained by a direct visual connection through a circulation axis. The colours and materials selection were carefully made in context of the immediate environment and to create a relaxing atmosphere.

 

The house uses photovoltaic solar panels for generating electricity, solar water heating, hydronic under floor heating and a combination of gas and heat pumps to supplement these. It is a very energy efficient house in regular use by social owners and guests.
